Why I Started Meadow: My Journey into Korean Skincare

Beauty in the small things.

I never planned to start a skincare business. In fact, if you had told my younger self that this is what future Nicole would be doing in her late thirties, she probably wouldn’t have believed you. Not because skincare hadn’t always fascinated me, but because I never really had the courage to dive into something so completely.

For the first time in a long time, I truly feel like I’ve found my calling .

Why Meadow?

People often ask me where the name Meadow came from.

One day I was sitting in the pasture with my horse. It was a beautiful sunny day, there was a gentle breeze, and the grass was swaying so softly. I can’t really explain it, but I suddenly felt this overwhelming sense of calm and clarity.

In that moment, I realised that this was a feeling I wanted to carry with me forever. More importantly, it was a feeling I wanted my business to give to other people.

I want people to experience the same happiness I felt in that small moment because beauty really is found in the small things. The quiet moments. The simple routines. The little acts of self-care that slowly become part of your everyday life.

My Passion for Skincare

I’ve always loved self-care and the idea of looking after yourself, but it’s only as I’ve gotten older that I’ve truly started feeling confident in my own skin.

For years, I thought confidence meant changing yourself into what everyone else wanted you to be. Now I realise that confidence comes from becoming the very best version of yourself—not someone else.

Sometimes that transformation doesn’t require drastic changes. Sometimes it starts with simply looking after your skin.

To me, there’s nothing more beautiful than feeling confident enough to leave the house without feeling like you have to hide behind makeup. Helping someone achieve healthy, glowing skin and feel beautiful in their own skin is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

Why Korean Skincare?

Somewhere along the way, I developed a real interest in Korean skincare… although “interest” is probably an understatement. It quickly became an obsession.

I’ve spent countless hours researching products, ingredients and routines, connecting with people in the industry, following new developments, and learning what genuinely works.

Like many people, I was fascinated by the idea of achieving healthy, radiant glass skin. But the more I learned, the more I realised it isn’t about chasing trends. It’s about consistently caring for your skin with effective, thoughtfully formulated products.

The innovation coming out of Korea constantly amazes me. The way they combine gentle, skin-loving ingredients with advanced skincare technology is incredible, and I’m so excited to help more people discover it for themselves.

My Philosophy

One thing you’ll quickly learn about me is that I don’t believe you need a bathroom cabinet full of products.

I believe in carefully selecting the right products for your skin—products that work together and have a purpose.

Sometimes that means starting slowly. Before we focus on pigmentation, acne or fine lines, we often need to repair your skin barrier and restore hydration first. Those foundations are what allow everything else to work properly.

It’s easy to want immediate results, but healthy skin is built over time.

That’s where I love helping people most.

I want to talk to my clients, understand their concerns, and work together to create a skincare routine that’s realistic, enjoyable and actually works.

Some of the most rewarding messages I receive are from clients telling me their skin has never looked or felt better, and that they wish we’d crossed paths sooner.

Knowing I’ve helped someone feel more confident in their own skin is, without question, the best part of my job.

Meadow is still growing, and I couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come.
